Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is a novel treatment that promotes the healing of an injured tissue by stimulating the body's own "good" inflammatory cells and markers. It mimics natural healing and can expedite recovery from an injury.

Its use has grown exponentially over the years as ongoing medical research and data support its safety and efficacy profile. At Town Center Orthopaedic Associates, we are pleased to offer this treatment option to our patients.

Please consult with one of our physicians to discuss whether Regenerative Medicine is an option for you.

Regenerative options offered at Town Center Orthopaedic Associates

  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelets contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which are very important in healing injuries. PRP is plasma with many more platelets than what is typically found in blood resulting in a greater concentration of growth factors. Studies have shown that the increased concentration of growth factors in PRP may potentially speed up the body’s healing process.

  • Stem Cells Therapy

Stem cells are precursor cells that can mature into various forms such as bone, cartilage, tendon, tissue, etc. Stem Cell Therapy, at Town Center Orthopaedic Associates, involves aspirating Bone Marrow Concentrate from the hip bone under local anesthesia. The collected aspirate is then refined to a final concentrate which is rich in precursor cells. The concentrate is then injected into the injured area to promote healing.

  • Amniotic Membrane/Umbilical Cord

Cryopreserved or dehydrated layers of human amniotic membrane is rich in growth factors that promote healing while minimizing inflammation. It is administered in form of injection to the affected area to promote body’s self-healing process.
